Taiwan promotes gender equality and physiological education for girls

In observance of International Day of the Girl (also recognized in Taiwan as Taiwan Girls' Day), various initiatives in Taiwan are focusing on gender equality and physiological education.

Wu Yu-chin, Chairperson of the Taiwan Health Alliance and candidate for Luliao Township Mayor, is promoting the ‘Team Girls!’ physiological education initiative. The campaign aims to provide correct health education to help girls understand bodily changes, reduce social stigma, and build confidence through support from families, schools, and society.

In Taipei, the City Education Department has partnered with the Taipei Zoo to integrate gender equality into daily life. They utilized a custom-made board game, ‘Insect Partners Assemble!’, to host parent-child activities that use insect observation to teach children about diversity and breaking gender stereotypes. Additionally, the Education Department organized professional development workshops for high school teachers, focusing on girls' rights, bodily boundaries, and menstrual equity to enhance gender sensitivity in the classroom.
