Taiwan Railways investigates food safety after cockroach found in bento

Actor Shen Hao-cheng reported finding a headless cockroach in a Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) pork chop bento box purchased at Zuoying Station. Shen shared the incident on social media, stating the discovery caused him to vomit twice and expressed significant distress regarding food hygiene.

The TRA responded by stating that the Kaohsiung Catering Branch, responsible for the meal production, has issued an apology via social media and is attempting to contact the actor directly to arrange a refund and further compensation.

In response to the incident, the TRA has ordered a comprehensive cleaning and disinfection of the catering kitchen and the sales counter at Zuoying Station. The company is also conducting an investigation into the production, batch tracking, and distribution processes to identify where the hygiene failure occurred. This follows a similar report of a cockroach found in a TRA bento box in June of last year.
