Taiwan raises airport service fee to NT$750–1,000 per departing passenger

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced a two‑stage increase in Taiwan’s airport service fee for outbound travelers. Effective 1 September, the fee rises from NT$500 to NT$750, and will climb to NT$1,000 on 1 September of the following year. The revenue share between the airport and the tourism sector will shift from an even 50‑50 split to 60‑40 in the first stage and 65‑35 in the second stage.

The ministry said the adjustment reflects higher construction and operating costs, noting that neighboring airports charge considerably more (e.g., Singapore Changi NT$1,597, Hong Kong NT$1,434, Japan Narita NT$1,239). With about 25.7 million outbound passengers in 2025, the fee hike could double annual airport service fee revenue from NT$128 billion to NT$256 billion, boosting the airport’s share to NT$166 billion and the tourism sector’s share to NT$90 billion. The change also applies to transit passengers, though it does not affect domestic travelers.
