Taiwan reports multiple drunk driving incidents in Taoyuan and Taipei

Authorities in Taiwan have reported two separate incidents involving driving under the influence and traffic violations.

In Taoyuan, a 40-year-old man was intercepted by police after riding a motorcycle against traffic and running a red light. Despite attempting to drink soda to lower his blood alcohol content, his measurement reached 0.38 mg/L, exceeding the legal limit. He has been processed for public danger.

In Taipei, a driver traveling against the flow of traffic on Chongqing South Road struck a police officer before crashing into a tree. The officer sustained abrasions to the face and right hand, while the driver was left unconscious. The driver's blood alcohol level was measured at 0.74 mg/L, and the individual faces charges of public danger and obstructing official duties.
