Taiwan reports surge in Chinese aircraft and naval sorties across its ADIZ

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defence announced that on June 4 it detected 32 PLA aircraft sorties, 10 PLAN vessels and five official ships operating around the island, with 25 of those flights crossing the median line into its northern, central, southwestern and eastern air defence identification zones (ADIZ). The next day the ministry reported a further nine‑hour raid involving seven aircraft sorties, ten naval vessels and six official ships, five of which entered the southwestern ADIZ. In both cases Taiwan said its forces monitored the activity and responded.

The reports came as Taiwan’s first domestically built submarine began another round of sea‑trial dive tests, marking its 15th overall trial amid heightened Chinese military pressure. The Chinese government continues to assert sovereignty over Taiwan, a claim Taiwan rejects, keeping the cross‑strait tension high.
