Taiwan retailer slashes prices on iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26+ for Father's Day
Father's Day in 2026 falls on August 8 in Taiwan. To capitalize on the occasion, the country's largest telecom retailer, Jie Sheng Communications, ran a limited‑time promotion from August 6‑9 offering deep discounts on flagship smartphones and accessories. The iPhone 17 Pro (256 GB) was reduced by up to NT$3,710 to a sale price of NT$41,190, while the Samsung Galaxy S26+ (12 GB/256 GB) saw a price cut of NT$7,910, bringing its empty‑box price below NT$30,000. Other discounted items included the Redmi 15C, Galaxy Watch 8, and various earbuds.
At the same time, Apple announced a June 2026 price increase for several Taiwan models – iPad, Mac, HomePod and Apple TV – while iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods remained unchanged. A separate guide highlighted five Apple products suited for different dad profiles, recommending the iPad Pro (M5 chip) for work‑oriented fathers, the Apple Watch Series 11 for health‑focused dads, AirPods Pro 3 for commuters, the iPhone 17 for photography enthusiasts, and the MacBook Neo for entry‑level laptop needs, each with current local pricing.
The combined push of retailer discounts and product recommendations aims to drive sales during the holiday period, offering Taiwanese consumers a range of options across Apple and Samsung ecosystems.
