Taiwan Schedules Major Indigenous Festivals in Yunlin and Keelung for August 2026

The Yunlin County Government announced a promotional press conference for the 2026 Yunlin County Indigenous United Harvest Festival, slated for 15 August at Douliu’s Pengshu Forest Park. Deputy County Mayor Xie Shuyi highlighted the participation of about 4,000 local indigenous residents and described the event’s mix of traditional rites, performances, a cultural market, food stalls, and a youth‑interactive zone, with a special appearance by the popular Pingtung indigenous duo “Black Whirlwind.”

Meanwhile, the Keelung City Government will host the “Fali Music Festival” on 2 August at the Keelung Indigenous Cultural Plaza to mark Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The festival, whose name means “wind” in Amis, will feature local and nationwide indigenous singers and bands, traditional dances, and contemporary acts, including performances by “Black Whirlwind,” Amis singer Wu Si‑Ai, and Taijiang youth groups. Both events aim to promote indigenous culture, foster cross‑community understanding, and encourage public participation across Taiwan.
