Taiwan Secures $439 Million Lockheed Martin ATACMS Missile Contract through 2031

The United States Department of Defense signed a production contract with Lockheed Martin to supply ATACMS short‑range ballistic missiles to Taiwan. The initial contract, fully funded, is valued at about $439 million and covers delivery of the missiles and the HIMARS launchers needed to operate them, with deliveries scheduled through February 2031. The agreement, structured under the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program, may expand to roughly $900 million as final terms are negotiated. Production will take place at Lockheed Martin’s Grand Prairie, Texas facility and be overseen by the U.S. Army Contracting Command in Alabama. The missiles will extend Taiwan’s long‑range strike capability and are part of a broader U.S. effort to modernise the island’s defence amid ongoing tensions with China.
