Taiwan service industry AI adoption reaches 35.8%

The Ministry of Economic Affairs' Commerce Development Administration (CDA) released the 2026 Commercial Service Industry Yearbook, revealing that 35.8% of surveyed commercial service enterprises in Taiwan have begun using artificial intelligence. This represents a 3.9 percentage point increase from 2025. Of these, 12.7% have reached the stage of large-scale AI implementation, while 23.1% are currently in the introduction and application phase, often utilizing free or trial versions.

To support digital transformation, the CDA is launching a comprehensive guidance mechanism involving demand identification, online diagnosis, and resource matching. This initiative aims to help businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, avoid unnecessary costs by aligning technology investments with actual operational needs.

Industry experts noted a significant shift toward the southward relocation of logistics and service centers. By expanding facilities in areas like Kaohsiung and Tainan, companies aim to reduce delivery delays for southern consumers and break the traditional concentration of resources in northern Taiwan. Other key trends identified include the localization of services within communities and the integration of AI into frontline consumer decision-making processes.
