Taiwan services and exams disrupted by Typhoon Qiabi

Typhoon Qiabi Taiwan hospital service disruptions civil service examination weather emergency

Typhoon Qiabi has prompted widespread service disruptions across Taiwan, including school and work closures in Yilan and Kaohsiung.

In Yilan, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Hospital announced the suspension of all outpatient services at its Lanyang and Xinmin campuses on October 24. While emergency services and dialysis remain operational, outpatient surgeries, examinations, and rehabilitation services are paused.

In Kaohsiung, the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital system—including Kaohsiung Chang Gung, Datong, and Fengshan hospitals—has adjusted medical services. Outpatient clinics, surgeries, and examinations are suspended at these facilities, though emergency rooms, inpatient services, and dialysis continue to operate.

Additionally, the Ministry of Examination has rescheduled parts of the 115th Civil Service Examination due to the typhoon. The oral examination for the Social Worker category, originally set for October 24, has been moved to October 26, while other categories proceed as planned.
