Taiwan sports injuries see rise in clinical cases and professional incidents
Sports-related injuries are seeing a rise in clinical visits, according to medical professionals in Taiwan. Dr. Huang Min-hsu of Taichung Hospital noted an increase in patients seeking treatment for acute injuries, particularly ACL ruptures caused by sudden movements in sports like badminton, basketball, and football.
To combat recovery times, medical teams are utilizing minimally invasive arthroscopic reconstruction combined with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Research suggests this combination can reduce recovery periods for ACL repairs from the traditional six to twelve months down to four to six months by improving blood oxygen levels and accelerating tissue repair.
In professional baseball, TSG Hawks pitcher Huang Tzu-peng was forced to leave a game against the Uni-President 7-ELEVEN Lions after being struck in the hand by a line drive. The team reported that his hand is currently experiencing bruising and swelling, and he is undergoing icing treatments while they monitor his condition for further medical evaluation.
