Taiwan Stock Exchange seeks Japanese pension fund investment
Lin Hsiu-ming, Chairman of the Taiwan Stock Exchange, is seeking to deepen financial cooperation between Taiwan and Japan to create diverse investment channels. In an interview with Nikkei, Lin expressed interest in attracting long-term capital from Japanese pension funds and life insurance companies to the Taiwanese market.
The Taiwan Stock Exchange is currently in discussions with major national securities firms in Japan. The goal is to move beyond exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and enable Japanese investors to directly allocate capital to individual high-quality Taiwanese stocks.
Lin noted that Taiwan's dominance in global AI and semiconductor technologies provides a strong foundation for its capital market. The exchange aims to strengthen international connections, using technological leadership to support capital growth and further establishing Taiwan as a “world technology island.”
