Taiwan Stock Market Holds Above 43,000 Points as Institutional Investors Add Support

The Taiwan Weighted Index closed at 43,360.66 points on the day, a marginal 0.06% decline, keeping the market above the 43,000‑point threshold. Trading volume rebounded to 1.36 trillion TWD, and institutional investors (investment trusts) injected a net 25.27 billion TWD to support prices. Foreign investors posted a net sell of 5.73 billion TWD, while proprietary traders sold 194.28 billion TWD.

Memory‑chip and CPO (co‑packaged optics) stocks led gains, with South‑Korea memory makers boosting local peers; Nan Ya (2408) and Winbond (2344) hit daily limits, while Wistron (2337) rose 8.6%. CPO and optical‑communication groups also surged, with multiple stocks hitting limit‑up levels. Conversely, major semiconductor giants such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC, 2330) fell over 2%, and other chip‑related firms like ASE Technology (3711) dropped more than 4%.

The market’s focus shifted from large‑cap chip leaders to mid‑cap and rebound‑type stocks, prompting analysts to advise a medium‑ to long‑term view amid upcoming U.S. economic data that could influence Federal Reserve policy expectations.
