Taiwan TFDA flags US beef tongue with parasites and other import violations

The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has reported several food safety violations involving imported goods. Two batches of frozen beef tongue from the United States, totaling 456 kilograms and imported by Shusen Development Co., Ltd., were found to contain the parasite ‘Sarcocystis’. These products are required to be returned or destroyed. Consequently, the TFDA has implemented a 100% inspection rate for this importer at the border.

Additionally, a batch of seasoning sauce from Vietnam, imported by Dingxun International Co., Ltd., tested positive for Sudan Red I, a prohibited coloring agent. Under food safety regulations, this batch must be destroyed and cannot be returned. The TFDA has initiated a 100% inspection protocol for Sudan Red in Vietnamese seasoning sauces.

Furthermore, a batch of baking paper imported from China by Taiwan Good Life International Co., Ltd. failed evaporation residue tests. The residue level was measured at 72 ppm, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 30 ppm. This importer has also been moved to a 100% inspection status at the border.
