Taiwan traffic accidents cause one death and multiple pileups

Multiple traffic accidents have been reported in Taiwan, including a fatal collision in Hualien and multi-vehicle pileups on National Highway 1.

In Hualien County, a collision between two passenger cars on Taiwan Provincial Highway 9 in Fuli Township resulted in one death and five injuries. A 35-year-old female passenger died after medical efforts failed. The Yuli Police Station is investigating the incident.

On National Highway 1, two separate multi-vehicle accidents occurred. In Kaohsiung, a semi-trailer truck's improper lane change triggered a five-car pileup, causing minor injuries to three people. All drivers involved tested zero for alcohol. In another incident on the southbound section of the highway near the Kaohsiung High-Tech Zone, a five-car collision caused significant traffic congestion, with backups extending five kilometers and temporarily blocking emergency responders.
