Taiwan updates digital nomad visa and launches travel rewards
Taiwan is implementing new measures to support remote workers and repeat tourists. Official guidance for the digital nomad visitor visa now allows for extensions in six-month increments, permitting a total stay of up to two years. Eligibility remains subject to review and requires applicants to demonstrate remote work via telecommunications, meet specific income or savings requirements, and possess valid insurance.
In a separate effort to boost tourism, the Taiwan Travel Rewards Draw has seen 63,321 registrations as of October 8, 2026. The incentive program offers spending credits to eligible independent travelers, with winning returning visitors receiving NT$5,000 and a qualifying companion receiving NT$3,000. The initiative aims to encourage repeat visitors to spend on local accommodation, transport, and dining, while also promoting travel to regions outside of Taipei.
