Taiwan weather: Northeast monsoon brings rain and cooler temperatures

Taiwan is experiencing weather changes driven by the Northeast monsoon. From today through Friday, the monsoon will influence various regions, leading to cooler temperatures in the north and east during mornings and evenings. Daytime highs are expected to range between 29°C and 32°C, while nighttime lows will sit between 22°C and 25°C, creating significant temperature gaps.

Rainfall probability is increasing for areas north of Taoyuan and the eastern half of the island. Specifically, Keelung and Yilan are expected to see more pronounced rainfall by Friday due to the monsoon interacting with increased moisture. Other areas may experience afternoon thunderstorms or localized showers.

While the monsoon is expected to weaken slightly over the weekend, southern cloud cover will increase, and localized showers may persist in the Greater Taipei area, the eastern region, and the Hengchun Peninsula. Although tropical systems are developing in the South China Sea, there are currently no signs of direct impact on Taiwan.
