Taiwan weather: Thunderstorms in south and high heat in north

Taiwan is experiencing unstable weather characterized by persistent southwest winds. The Central Weather Administration reports that central and southern regions will face intermittent showers or thunderstorms, with a possibility of heavier rainfall. Northern and eastern regions will primarily see afternoon thunderstorms, while northern mountainous areas are at risk of heavy rain.

Temperatures remain high, with northern and eastern areas reaching up to 36 degrees Celsius. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against heatstroke. Additionally, an annual spring tide is expected from August 13 to 15, which may cause high water levels, drainage issues, or seawater intrusion in low-lying coastal areas from Keelung to Taitan, and from Chiayi to Pingtung.

Regarding tropical systems, Typhoon Changhong has weakened into a tropical depression moving toward Japan, and Typhoon Pibis is currently too distant to directly affect Taiwan's weather.
