A strengthening northeast monsoon is expected to impact Taiwan and the South China coast through mid-week. In Taiwan, the monsoon will bring increased rainfall to windward areas, including northern regions like Keelung and Taipei, as well as Yilan and the Hengchun Peninsula. While northern temperatures may drop slightly, central and southern regions are expected to remain hot, with temperatures reaching between 32 and 36 degrees Celsius.

In Hong Kong and the Guangdong coast, the combination of the northeast monsoon and a tropical low pressure in the South China Sea is causing strong winds and showers. Some areas may experience thunderstorms and heavy rain. The tropical low is expected to move toward the coast of Vietnam.

Meteorologists are also monitoring a tropical disturbance near Guam. There is potential for this system to develop into a typhoon, possibly named ‘Dujuan’. While its exact path remains uncertain, some models suggest it could move toward the Ryukyu Islands or Japan, though its ultimate trajectory is subject to change based on atmospheric conditions.
