Taiwan youth initiatives focus on career exploration and industry integration

In Pingtung, the local government and the TSMC Charitable Foundation held the 2026 ‘Hand in Hand to Build Dreams, Reaching the Future’ career exploration and recruitment event. The initiative, now in its fourth year, brought together over 1,000 students and teachers from 13 vocational high schools and attracted 48 participating companies. The industries represented include the semiconductor supply chain, smart manufacturing, green energy, tourism, and medical services.

To bridge the gap between education and industry, the event utilized ‘Career Mission Cards’ to guide students through self-exploration, industry familiarity, and job interview simulations. Representatives from the semiconductor sector emphasized the diverse technical roles available within the supply chain, while the Taiwan Space Agency (TASA) provided lectures on aerospace career opportunities.

In Taitung, the ‘2026 Taitung Youth Walking and Learning’ program focused on the Luye and Chishang regions. The program aimed to help youth understand the connection between rural daily life and agricultural industry. Participants engaged in traditional activities like kiln firing and straw man making, while also visiting tea plantations to learn about the processing, branding, and market integration of mulberry leaf tea and Red Oolong tea.
