Taiwanese actress Amber Kuo clarifies false reports of death in Japan

Taiwanese actress Amber Kuo has debunked viral rumors claiming she died in a hotel stabbing incident in Kawaguchiko, Japan. The misinformation spread rapidly across social media platforms including Weibo, TikTok, and Xiaohongshu, causing significant alarm among her fans.

The hoax originated from an AI translation error. Reports from Japanese media regarding a deceased individual with the surname ‘Guo’ (郭さん) were incorrectly translated by AI tools as the specific name of the celebrity, Amber Kuo. This error was compounded by fabricated news screenshots that appeared to show Japanese television broadcasts reporting her death.

Kuo responded to the rumors via Instagram, posting a video of herself playing with her cat and stating, “I am fine.” Her management agency, Hao Miao Entertainment, also issued a clarification, providing photographic evidence of Kuo in a dressing room at the Golden Bell Awards to prove she was alive and actively rehearsing for the upcoming ceremony.
