Taiwanese cities recognized for elderly care and filial piety initiatives
Keelung City held a ceremony to honor nine individuals as filial piety models for their dedicated care of elderly family members. Vice Mayor Chiu Pei-lin emphasized that filial piety is a core value in personal character and professional cooperation, expressing hope that these examples would foster a more compassionate and family-oriented urban environment.
In Chiayi City, the municipal government received two honors at the first City Care Excellence Awards. The Social Affairs Bureau and the Long-term Care Management Center were recognized for their innovative programs. The ‘Zhu Luo Medical Family Care’ scheme won the first prize in the ‘Co-aging’ category, while the ‘Orange Generation’ program received the benchmark award in the ‘Safe Living’ category.
Chiayi’s initiatives focus on proactive aging, extending planning services down to age 55, and providing comprehensive support for caregivers to alleviate the pressures of dementia and disability care through smart technology and community-based services.
