Taiwanese community gathers at Fenway Park for Red Sox game
Approximately 1,300 members of the Taiwanese community gathered at Fenway Park in Boston on September 12 to support the Boston Red Sox during their game against the Kansas City Royals. Organized by the Brookline Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, the group, referred to as ‘Team Taiwan’, wore coordinated clothing to form large-scale displays in the stands, including the words ‘TAIWAN’ and ‘TW ❤️ SOX’.
During the event, the Red Sox organization officially recognized the group. Liao Chao-hung, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston, and community leader Guo Jing-ru were invited onto the field to greet the crowd and broadcasted messages to the stadium and viewers.
The organizers expressed hope that this large-scale demonstration of community unity will lead to the establishment of an official ‘Taiwan Celebration Day’ at Fenway Park in the coming years.
