Taiwanese counties launch Traffic Safety Month pop-up events

Local governments in Changhua and Yunlin counties are hosting pop-up events to promote Traffic Safety Month, focusing on motorcycle safety and the culture of yielding at intersections.

In Changhua, an event was held at the Tengshan Trail in Yuanlin City featuring entertainer Wang Cai-hua. Officials noted that traffic accidents in the county have seen a downward trend, with a 18% decrease in A1 accidents and a 6% reduction in monthly fatalities compared to the previous year. The campaign specifically targets motorcycle safety and the protection of elderly pedestrians and drivers.

In Yunlin, a similar event took place at the Huwei Baiwu Street Night Market, featuring entertainer Shen Wen-cheng to promote new regulations regarding elderly driver license renewals. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications is supporting these efforts by offering free safety inspections for motorcycles at over 7,000 locations nationwide and hosting a lucky draw for drivers with zero traffic violations.
