Taiwanese elementary schools host orientation events for new students

Elementary schools in Taiwan held various orientation activities to welcome new students for the upcoming academic year.

In Liuyu Township, Kinmen County, Shangqi Elementary School hosted an event themed ‘Big Hands Holding Small Hands’ for kindergarten and first-grade students. The ceremony included traditional elements such as passing through the ‘Diligence and Intelligence Gate’ and ringing the ‘Scholar Bell’ to symbolize bravery and academic success. Students also received welcome gifts including books and smart bands to encourage self-discipline.

In Taipei’s Wenshan District, Xinghua Elementary School organized a ‘Learning Station’ themed event. The school utilized Social Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks, guiding students through five themed stations designed to help them recognize emotions, build courage, and learn cooperation. The program included interactive activities like balance beams and goal-setting exercises, alongside parent lectures to help families support children's emotional transitions.
