Taiwanese elementary schools host themed welcome events for new students
Elementary schools in Taiwan held special welcome events for first-grade students to mark the beginning of the new academic year.
In Taichung, Caohu Elementary School celebrated its 70th anniversary with a fairy-tale-themed welcome ceremony. To create a sense of wonder, the principal dressed as Alice and the parent association president as the Mad Hatter, while the new volunteer captain appeared as the White Rabbit. The event aimed to transform the first day of school into a meaningful ritual involving local culture and reading.
In Taipei, Wanda Elementary School hosted a “First Grade Family Day” coinciding with Grandparents' Day. The school invited three generations of families to participate in campus tours and parenting lectures. The program focused on social-emotional learning (SEL) and strengthening the partnership between teachers and families to support students' emotional and social development.
