Taiwan and Peru lead diplomatic missions in Central America
Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung is leading a high-level business delegation to Belize and Guatemala to strengthen economic ties and strategic partnerships. The mission, involving over 30 representatives from sectors such as green energy, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and space technology, aims to expand cooperation through the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project. In Belize, the delegation will meet with Prime Minister John Briceño and inspect various Taiwan-funded projects. In Guatemala, Lin is scheduled to meet President Bernardo Arévalo and participate in celebrations for the 92nd anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
Separately, Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori has announced an official visit to El Salvador scheduled for late October. Following an invitation from President Nayib Bukele, Fujimori and Foreign Minister Carlos Espá will meet with the Salvadoran leader to discuss public security. The Peruvian government intends to study the Salvadoran model of combating transnational organized crime and insecurity to address similar challenges within Peru.
