Taiwanese industry and academia collaborate on talent cultivation
Educational and industrial sectors in Taiwan are intensifying efforts to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional expertise through specialized training programs and industry-academia partnerships.
National Chi Nan University recently hosted its eighth entrepreneurship competition, utilizing a Living Lab to guide 18 student teams. The workshop integrated cross-disciplinary industry mentors to help students refine business models in fields such as smart energy management, AI-assisted learning, and agricultural education. The university provides financial incentives for students who achieve high honors in international competitions to encourage innovation.
Simultaneously, the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Development Agency reported significant results from its seven-year initiative to support the space and networking industries. The program has assisted 100 companies in recruiting talent and has trained 1,044 individuals. Data shows that 66% of these trainees secured positions within the networking and satellite sectors, earning salaries 23% higher than the industry average. The initiative involves collaboration between the Ministry of Education and various universities to ensure students gain practical R&D experience through technical projects and professional mentorship.
