Taiwanese KMT Candidate Xu Xin-ying Proposes Five Early‑Childhood Education Reforms in Hsinchu
KMT mayoral candidate Xu Xin-ying, currently a legislator and candidate for Hsinchu County, pledged a package of five reforms aimed at reducing the administrative burden on kindergarten teachers if she wins the election. The plan calls for simplifying the kindergarten evaluation system, cutting unnecessary paperwork, and expanding electronic administration to eliminate duplicate paper submissions. It also includes strengthening the teacher‑assistant system and boosting special‑education support for children aged three to five, with the goal of redirecting resources to this critical development period.
Xu Xin-ying said she heard directly from teachers and school principals that the expanding paperwork—such as repeated data entry and filing—has turned overtime into a daily routine, diverting attention from children. She emphasized that the reforms would return teachers’ time to classroom care and ensure kindergartens focus on education rather than bureaucratic tasks.
