Taiwanese local governments conduct reserve service training
Local governments in Taiwan are conducting specialized training for reserve service members to enhance civil defense and disaster response capabilities.
In Tainan, the city held a town resilience exercise from October 6 to 8, marking the first time a management center has been integrated with a disaster prevention coordination center. The training involved 113 participants, including squad leaders and reserve personnel, focusing on national defense education, disaster response mechanisms, and logistical coordination. The goal is to establish a seamless model of preparation during peacetime and mobilization during emergencies.
In Changhua, the Fire Department completed a training program for the disaster prevention and rescue group of reserve service members. The curriculum included civil defense education, emergency response, basic first aid, and resettlement. Participants also underwent ‘Disaster Prevention Specialist’ training to gain professional qualifications. Officials noted that these personnel serve as essential support for local disaster relief and medical rescue during peacetime, while transitioning to civil defense roles in the event of conflict.
