Taiwanese musicians perform at New York Central Park for Taiwanese Waves anniversary

Taiwanese musicians 9m88, ØZI, and YELLOW (Huang Xuan) performed at New York City’s Central Park SummerStage to celebrate the tenth anniversary of ‘Taiwanese Waves’. Despite rain during the event, nearly 5,000 spectators attended the showcase.

ØZI performed tracks including ‘Hair Tie’ and ‘LAVA’, describing the performance as a significant milestone for his musical values. YELLOW engaged the crowd with rhythmic performances despite the showers in Manhattan. The event concluded with 9m88, ØZI, and YELLOW performing a medley of Mandopop classics, including songs by Teresa Teng and A-Mei, to commemorate the decade-long history of the initiative.

Founded by curator Mia Yan, Taiwanese Waves aims to provide international platforms for Taiwanese independent music. Previous participants have included artists such as Sunset Rollercoaster and EggPlantEgg.
