Japanese 21‑year‑old Okumoto Yuta captured the men’s singles crown at the Taipei Badminton Open, defeating South Korea’s Yoon Tae‑bin 21‑19, 21‑12 in straight sets. His victory marks the first time a Japanese player has won the men’s singles title in the tournament’s history.

In mixed doubles, Taiwan’s pair Yang Po‑hsuan and Hu Lin‑fang earned the silver medal after a 19‑21, 8‑21 loss to Japan’s Watanabe Yuta and Taniguchi Masami. The ceremony was presented by Taiwan’s sports minister Li Yang, who also praised the Japanese champions.

The event also reshaped world rankings. Taiwan’s left‑handed Lin Jun‑yi surged to a career‑high world No. 8 after reaching the men’s singles semifinals, while veteran Chou Tien‑cheng retained the year‑end leader spot with 67,710 points.
