Taiwanese political parties navigate Blue-White cooperation dynamics
Political tensions and cooperation dynamics between the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Taiwanese People's Party (TPP) are evolving ahead of local elections. KMT Chairperson Cheng Li-wen addressed rumors regarding a closed-door caucus meeting, clarifying that discussions regarding whether KMT legislators should support TPP candidate Chiu Chen-yuan in Zhubei were being misrepresented. KMT legislator Hsu Chiao-hsin responded by stating she would follow party leadership instructions and emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation between the blue and white camps.
In a separate development, TPP Policy Executive Wu Huang-sheng commented on a recent live broadcast between Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen and TPP Chairperson Huang Kuo-chang. Wu described the interaction as a “new hope for Blue-White cooperation,” suggesting that the dialogue between the two leaders could signal a potential future governing alliance or a new political framework. Wu noted that while the breakdown of cooperation in the Greater Hsinchu area caused friction, the rapport between Lu and Huang may help mitigate political damage.
