Taiwanese regions target Singaporean market via NATAS travel fair

Taiwanese regional governments are intensifying efforts to capture the Southeast Asian tourism market, specifically targeting Singaporean travelers through participation in the NATAS Holidays travel fair.

Chiayi City reported a 15% year-on-year increase in overnight stays during the first half of the year, reaching approximately 1.21 million visitors. Mayor Huang Min-hui noted that Singaporean tourists are becoming a key demographic, with the city positioning itself as a destination for deep cultural exploration rather than just a transit point for Alishan.

Simultaneously, Kinmen County is promoting its unique battlefield history and Minnan culture. Kinmen officials engaged in both B2C and B2B activities in Singapore, utilizing local influencers and traditional customs like mooncake gambling to attract interest. Kinmen is also promoting a direct charter flight plan between Kinmen and Kuala Lumpur scheduled for November to reduce travel barriers for Southeast Asian tourists.
