Taiwanese schools undergo major infrastructure and safety upgrades

Educational facilities in Taiwan are undergoing significant upgrades to address safety concerns and modernize learning environments.

In Kaohsiung, the reconstruction of the B-wing at Gangpu Elementary School has commenced with an investment of over 217 million TWD. The project aims to replace aging structures that suffered from concrete spalling and water leakage. The new design incorporates local historical and geographical elements, such as limestone kiln imagery and military bunker motifs, to integrate regional identity into the campus architecture. The new building will feature 12 classrooms, an audiovisual room, and an assembly hall, with completion expected by August 2028.

In New Taipei City, the eight-year renovation of Xiufeng High School has reached completion. The 730 million TWD project involved a phased “demolish-build-demolish” approach to minimize disruption to teaching. The new facilities include two buildings with 39 general classrooms and 12 specialized classrooms, all equipped with smart electronic whiteboards. The project also improved campus safety by upgrading pedestrian walkways and increasing parking capacity for cars and motorcycles.
