Mitsubishi Electric develops AI-driven humanoid automation system

Mitsubishi Electric has announced the development of a new manufacturing system that enables seamless collaboration between humanoid robots and CNC machine tools through physical AI. Utilizing the company’s proprietary ‘Maisart’ AI technology, the system allows robots to respond to natural language instructions without the need for complex, individual programming for different robot models.

The system consists of three core components: an ‘AI machining task planner’ that analyzes instructions to automatically generate and distribute tasks, CNC machine tools capable of receiving control information via natural language, and general-purpose humanoid robots. This integration aims to automate flexible tasks such as material placement, machine cleaning, and inspection, which traditionally require human dexterity.

By reducing the need for intensive system integration and specialized programming, the technology seeks to address severe labor shortages in manufacturing environments. Mitsubishi Electric plans to advance functional improvements and conduct demonstration experiments with the goal of achieving practical application and fully unmanned factories by 2030.
