World No. 6 and Taiwan’s top badminton player Chou Tien‑cheng defeated 21‑year‑old Malaysian Eogene Ewe, ranked 80th, 21‑17 and 22‑20 to reach the quarter‑finals of the Taipei Open. After a cramped schedule that saw him travel from the China Open final and play a late‑night first‑round match, Chou overcame two match points in the second set, winning the contest in 43 minutes and marking his 11th appearance in the Taipei Open’s last eight.

Following his victory, Chou expressed gratitude for the support that has kept him competitive at age 36, emphasizing the importance of staying humble and thankful. He donated his prize‑winning red envelope to the Tainan Youth Shelter, where former badminton association president Zhang Guozuo added 30 rackets and additional funds to help the facility purchase equipment and coaching for its residents.
