Taiwan's Chimei Hospital hosts Father's Day health screening and wellness event

Chimei Hospital in Tainan launched a Father’s Day health‑care campaign running through August 11. The program offers free health screenings, smoking‑cessation counseling, and dementia awareness for fathers and other male patients. Hospital director Tian Yufeng opened the event, noting that “health is the foundation of family happiness” and encouraging regular check‑ups and healthy habits. Participants receive dental kits and incentives such as toiletries for completing cancer screenings or quitting smoking.

At the same time, Taiwanese physicians warned that many middle‑aged men face serious metabolic risks. Dr. Li Zongying of the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Shuanghe Hospital highlighted that about 40% of Taiwanese men have fatty liver disease, with waist circumferences over 90 cm indicating heightened danger. He urged men to measure their waist, review health‑check reports, and adopt lifestyle changes or medication when needed to prevent progression to liver fibrosis, cardiovascular disease, or diabetes.
