Taiwo Awoniyi transfers from Nottingham Forest to Coventry City

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has completed a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest to Coventry City for a fee of £9 million. The move follows four seasons at Nottingham Forest, where he made 103 appearances and scored 23 goals across all competitions.

Awoniyi’s tenure at Forest included a decisive 11-goal Premier League debut season that helped the club avoid relegation and a subsequent campaign that saw the team finish seventh and qualify for European competition. His career prior to the move included stints at Liverpool, FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Mouscron, Gent, Mainz, and Union Berlin.

Following the announcement, Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White praised Awoniyi’s character and impact on the dressing room, describing him as a “lovely, humble guy” and a “brother.” Awoniyi expressed his excitement about joining Coventry City following their recent promotion from the Championship.
