Taiyo Yuden Raises Full-Year Profit Forecast 50% on AI Server Demand

Japanese capacitor maker Taiyo Yuden announced a 50% increase in its full‑year operating profit forecast, raising the target to 45 billion yen and net profit to 29 billion yen. Revenue for the year is projected at about 424 billion yen. The revision follows a strong first‑quarter performance, where operating profit rose 53% to 4.82 billion yen and revenue grew 11% to 93.9 billion yen, driven by rising demand for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) in AI servers and telecom equipment.

The company reported that AI‑server related capacitor orders surged, with a BB ratio of 1.72, and that its product mix shifted toward high‑volume, high‑value components. In the quarter, capacitor sales reached 69 billion yen, up 14.7%, while inductors grew 7.4% and other segments fell 8.5%. Taiyo Yuden plans to expand capacity to meet the accelerating demand from data‑center infrastructure.

These results mark a turnaround from a loss in the same period a year earlier, underscoring the impact of AI‑driven hardware demand on the passive‑component market.
