Taiz faces severe gas and fuel shortages

Taiz is experiencing an escalating crisis regarding domestic and automotive gas supplies. Many fueling stations and gas retail outlets have closed due to significant shortages.

Mazen Hadi, spokesperson for the gas agents union, stated that the deficit is caused by the failure to transport allocated quotas from the Safer oil region. The shortage of automotive gas has reached a deficit of 51 trailers over two weeks, while domestic gas supplies in the city and rural areas have dropped by approximately 50%.

The crisis is being compounded by transport buses diverting from automotive gas to domestic gas supplies, further straining resources for citizens. While the Yemen Gas Company has authorized six trailers daily for vehicles, actual deliveries have been limited to only one or two trailers per day. Local officials have called for urgent intervention to provide necessary supplies before the upcoming month of Ramadan.
