Taiz Legal Division accuses Houthis of desecrating bodies

The Legal Division of the Taiz Axis has accused Houthi militias of desecrating the bodies of Yemeni armed forces and popular resistance members. According to a report submitted by the director of a military hospital to Major General Khalid Fadel, the commander of the Taiz Axis, bodies received from the International Committee of the Red Cross showed signs of severe mutilation.

The report details instances where corrosive chemical substances were poured on the remains, hands and feet were broken, and facial features were obliterated. The Legal Division stated that these actions violate human dignity, Islamic teachings, and international humanitarian law, potentially constituting war crimes.

The division has called upon the United Nations Secretary-General, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to launch an urgent and transparent international investigation. They emphasized that failure to hold those responsible accountable could encourage further violations.
