Taiz water infrastructure project signed in Aden
Yemen’s Minister of Water and Environment, Tawfiq al-Sharjabi, signed an agreement in Aden with the Sela Foundation for Development to implement a project aimed at strengthening urban water systems in Taiz. The project is funded by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, with a total cost of 3,478,800 Saudi riyals.
The 12-month initiative focuses on enhancing the sustainability of Taiz’s water systems and increasing resilience against climate change. Key activities include developing water sources, rehabilitating distribution networks, expanding the use of renewable energy, and improving technical capacities and water supply efficiency.
The project is expected to directly benefit 67,228 individuals, representing 9,604 families across the Al-Qahirah, Al-Mudhaffar, and Salh districts of Taiz, by improving access to safe and sustainable water services.
