Taiz, Yemen: Mother carries daughter's body through mountains after Houthi strike

A video documenting a mother carrying the body of her daughter, Mushira Mohammed Qasim Ali, across rugged mountain terrain has drawn widespread attention. The 35-year-old Quran teacher was killed, along with her 65-year-old father, Mohammed Qasim Ali Abdullah al-Naqib, during a Houthi militia strike on their home in the Al-Adan village of the Sabr al-Mawadim district in Taiz governorate.

Due to the ongoing siege of Taiz and difficulties with transportation and fuel shortages, the family and local residents were forced to transport the deceased through difficult mountainous paths to reach Al-Thawra General Hospital. Mushira reportedly died from multiple shrapnel wounds sustained during the shelling.

Information Minister Muammar al-Iryani and human rights activists have highlighted the incident, noting the contrast between Houthi political claims and the humanitarian suffering of Yemeni civilians caused by continuous shelling and blockades in the region.
