Airstrikes in Yemen’s Taiz province have resulted in significant casualties following an attack on a market near the Mawiyah Junction. Houthi-run health officials reported that at least seven people were killed and 40 others were injured, including five children. The strikes caused extensive damage to local shops, vehicles, and nearby buildings.

Conflicting accounts exist regarding the target of the operation. The Houthi movement accused Saudi Arabia of deliberately targeting civilians and commercial shops. Conversely, the internationally recognized Yemeni government stated that its forces targeted a Houthi military camp and vehicles located near the market. Military sources suggested that Houthi fighters had recently established a camp in close proximity to the civilian area.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree reported that a Saudi F15 formation conducted two raids at approximately 11:29 AM. He claimed the total number of casualties reached nearly 50 and warned of consequences for Saudi Arabia. Other reports cited by Agence France-Presse indicated that the casualties included approximately 30 fighters and eight civilians.
