Tajemtra walking event in Jember expects record participation

The Gerak Jalan Tanggul-Jember Tradisional (Tajemtra) event is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Jember. The traditional walking event follows a 29.4-kilometer route starting from Alun-Alun Tanggul and ending at Alun-Alun Jember.

Registration has reached 25,613 participants, marking the highest number recorded since 2015. Local officials, including Jember Regent Gus Fawait, anticipate the final count could exceed 26,000 when accounting for unregistered attendees. This represents a nearly 100 percent increase compared to previous years, where participation typically hovered around 15,000.

To accommodate the surge in participants, PT KAI Daop 9 Jember is operating a Special Train (KLB Tajemtra) to transport participants from Jember Station to Tanggul Station. The event is described by local authorities as a significant community gathering that fosters solidarity, discipline, and local economic activity through the presence of MSMEs and community festivities.
