Uzbekistan trade with Afghanistan reaches $1.2 billion
Uzbekistan's trade volume with Afghanistan reached $1.2 billion during the first seven months of the year, according to the National Statistical Committee of Uzbekistan. This makes Afghanistan the country's fifth-largest trading partner, following China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey.
In the broader economic landscape, Uzbekistan's headline inflation cooled slightly to 6.2% in August, down from 6.4% in July. While consumer prices saw a monthly increase of 0.2%, driven largely by food and non-alcoholic beverages, services inflation has slowed significantly compared to the previous year.
Additionally, Uzbekistan has emerged as a regional leader in venture capital. In the first half of 2026, the country accounted for 76% of all venture deals in the CIS region, excluding Russia, with 44 recorded deals. Local venture funds, including Yoshlar Ventures and IT Park Ventures, have seen significant capital increases to support early-stage startups.
