Tajikistan considers withdrawal from International Criminal Court
Authorities in Tajikistan are considering withdrawing from the Rome Statute and the International Criminal Court (ICC). A draft resolution regarding this withdrawal was debated by a group of deputies in the country's lower house of Parliament.
Tajikistan ratified the Rome Statute in 2000. The nation has previously faced criticism from European authorities for failing to uphold its obligations, specifically regarding an ICC arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. The warrant relates to the alleged deportation of Ukrainian children during the ongoing war. Putin visited Tajikistan in October to participate in a summit with leaders from other former Soviet republics in Central Asia.
