Tajinderpal Singh Toor targets 22m shot put mark

Indian national record holder Tajinderpal Singh Toor has expressed his ambition to achieve a 22-meter shot put throw. Toor aims to establish a new benchmark for Indian athletics, drawing inspiration from javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, whose success has significantly raised performance standards for Indian javelin athletes.

The 31-year-old athlete, who holds a personal best of 21.77 meters, hopes that reaching the 22-meter mark will normalize distances of 20 and 21 meters for the next generation of Indian shot putters.

Toor noted that recurring injuries have impacted his performance, including a Grade 1 calf muscle tear sustained shortly before the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Despite the injury, he managed a 20.27-meter throw during the competition, finishing in fifth place.
