Takako Matsu attends Japan premiere of ‘Nagi Diary’

The Japan premiere of the film ‘Nagi Diary’, directed by Koji Fukada, was held in Tokyo, featuring lead actress Takako Matsu, co-stars Shizuka Ishibashi and Kenichi Matsuyama, and the director. The film, which took nine years to complete, follows a woman named Yuri who visits a sculptor named Yoriko in the fictional town of Nagi, a setting inspired by Nagi Town in Okayama Prefecture.

During the event, the cast discussed their experiences filming in Okayama. Matsu shared that she prepared for her role as a sculptor by working with professional sculptor Ami Yoshida to learn sketching and clay modeling. The cast also shared lighthearted anecdotes from the set, including their interactions while staying in local lodgings and Matsu’s aversion to insects.

Following a successful screening at the Cannes Film Festival, which received a seven-minute standing ovation, the film is scheduled for a nationwide release in Japan on September 25. Distribution has already been confirmed in over 15 countries and regions.
